In Tumaco and Francisco Pizarro (Nariño), we continue working with the communities to support children and youth, focusing on providing them with the necessary tools to avoid abandoning their studies.

In August, over 1,000 students participated in reading and writing reinforcement activities, supported by teachers who dedicated practice time adapted to different learning paces. We also distributed materials for daily classroom work and 500 school kits, ensuring that students have the essentials to attend and actively participate in their classes.

To ensure this impact is not temporary, we are working to consolidate the ATAL(Let’s All Learn to Read) program in the region.  To this end, we met with school principals and coordinators with a clear objective: to ensure that these literacy strategies are permanently integrated into schools and aligned with the Institutional Plan for Reading, Writing, and Oral Communication (PILEO).

Learning also broke out of the routine with practical activities such as the “Reading to the Wind” festival at the Tumac Educational Center, and the Neuroletras strategy, a key tool to provide personalized support to students who need to reinforce their reading process.

Meanwhile, young people had their own dedicated space at an academic and university fair, where they explored real options for continuing their education and planning their future. Simultaneously, through the Altruism program, practical workshops focused on civic values such as solidarity, empathy, and community responsibility were held. With these initiatives, we continue to join forces with schools in Nariño, providing concrete resources that promote the holistic development of young people.
